About Sierra Cabinets

The Team

Ray Huerta, founder and master craftsman, is joined by a talented and dedicated team of 22 employees, including Jose Cruz, Senior Designer/Sales Manager; Francisco Verdin, Operations Manager, Timothy Schneider, Customer Service Manager and Minda Calagui Business and Accounting Manager, who will be the first one to greet you when you arrive for your first "in-shop" meeting.

Ray Huerta
Ray’s larger-than-life smile and warm handshake are the face of this very successful design shop. Some things you should know about Ray: As a young man and adolescent, he was more interested in his artwork than his studies, and his hobby was designing and constructing intricate inlaid wooden jewelry boxes. He’s a lucky man to have identified his two passions at such an early age. These two gifts form the bedrock of Sierra Cabinets, and Ray’s enthusiasm and clear love for his work are both infectious and withstand the many demands that custom cabinetry entails. His skills come not only from formal training, but also through total immersion and tenacity; after 40 years in the trade, there’s not much Ray and Sierra Cabinets can’t do for you.

Jose Cruz, Senior Designer/Sales Manager

Timothy Schneider, Customer Service Manager
Tim developed extensive experience in Customer Service from a variety of enterprises. Beginning in the mid-1980s he was Sole Proprietor of Actual Size Productions in San Francisco, hand crafting prototypes for Bay Area advertising agencies, designers, and corporations. He continued to develop great client relations skills at a ceramics studio and a cataloguer where he turned a failing Ride-Along (RAL) program into a successful, profitable venue via telephone sales and creative co-op opportunities. Tim moved on to an East Bay publisher where he honed his skills with large volume internal and external clients of two local, mainstream monthly magazines. He was most recently at a Berkeley consulting company, and is very happy to be back in an industry with a tangible end product (for show and tell). Tim has a BFA in Visual Communication from Indiana University.

Francisco Verdin
Francisco oversees the shop and his team of 15. We’re like a family, he says, working closely together, talking about what we’re doing, and helping each other out. 15 years ago, Francisco began at Sierra Cabinets at entry level. Step by step, moving from framing to cutting to assembling cabinetry, Ray has taken him under his wing. Francisco grabs the bull by the horns, and learns more than enthusiastically. “It’s a good feeling when you walk into a home and see the amazing work you and your team have created.”

Minda Calagui
Minda Calagui comes from a strong background in Business Administration and Accounting with over 15 years of experience. She has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting and is well verse in all aspects of running the entire business office from the ground up. She has well over 10 years Management experience and has excellent written and communication skills. She is very detail oriented and organized and has successfully managed several smaller organizations in the past but is happy to finally found a home at Sierra Cabinets.
